Barbados

I’m back, it was a busy week. I got a call on Tuesday from a company that needed a pilot to fly a Falcon 200 that they just purchased to Barbados and around the Caribbean.
The guy said all I had to do was just show up, they had qualified pilots, just needed someone with a type rating.

I left Denver at 9:00PM and arrived Fort Lauderdale at 7:30 am in Wed. the 10th. I had been awake for 24 hours at that point. I got a ride to FXE where the plane was waiting. I was told it was pre flighted, and ready to go. Unfortunately there was no flight plan, and the could not figure out how the file sn APIS. Gary came to the rescue, did the APIS and we went to the plane.
The batterys were close to dead, I got the API going, spent an hour cleaning the plane. Breifed my crew started engines, taxied out, and noticed we had 0 02. Taxied back to the ramp, and spent the next hour getting oxygen.
Needless to say we were running late and I was tired.
The flight to Barbados was uneventful, but the owners were not happy when we arrived. Apperantly nobody bothered to call them. The tail number was blocked so there was no way to track us. They thought we had crashed.
I wasn’t in the mood the discuss it with them.
We made a short hop over to snt Vincent for a “quick visit” that lasted into the night. It was a 4000′ runway with almost no lighting. It was one way in, one way out and that resulted in a 8 knot tail wind on takeoff. While the plane did great, I was a little nervous.

Omaha

I know it’s been a while, and we have been doing some flying, but it has been pretty routine stuff. A few trips to Utah, Las Vegas for a few days, and running around Colorado.
This weekend we are in Omaha. The plane is in Lincoln, but with the Oklahoma/Nebraska game Saturday, rooms were limited, and expensive. We decided to drive 45 minutes to Omaha. This is my first trip here, and I like it. It’s a nice good size town, right on the river with a clean and pleasant down town.
We had a good round of golf at a nice public course. Eighteen holes, with a cart, $30.00. Can’t beat that. It was 70 degrees, no wind and lots of sun. A rare day in Nebraska in November.
Sunday is going to be a long day. We will check out of the hotel at 2 for a midnight departure. Looks like a long nap in the pilots lounge.
I did get in a good 7 mile run. It is amazing how much better I feel running at 1000′ than 6000′.

Quiet Week

The Lincoln trip ended up being a long night. We didn’t get out of Denver until after 7 PM. We got back around 10:30 PM. The weather in Lincoln was fine. It was windy and chilly, but straight down the runway, so there were no problems. Centennial was overcast at 1000 feet and 4 miles visibility. We had to start the approach, but picked up the airport pretty far out.

The whole trip was pretty much after sunset, so there were no sunset pictures. Maybe next time.

This week is pretty slow. We don’t have anything until Sunday. It is time to brush up on the golf game.

Wow, long day. We were suppose to leave around 6:00PM and didn’t get off the groung until 7:45. One hour to Lincoln, quick turn, 800 gallons of fuel, and back to Denver. It was 1000′ overcast and 5 miles visibility, so we bounced around in the clouds for a while. Good trip, but I will sleep good tonight. My cold is almost gone.I am hoping to get a run in tomorrow.

We are heading to Lincoln, NE this afternoon. I have a remant of a cold, but am good for the flight. Lincoln is a hour and fifteen minutes, and the weather looks good. I will take some pictures in flight. We sould have a good sunset on the way home.
This is my first blog from the I-phone. Please excuse the spelling errors. They are all apples fault. I do love this thing though.

Hello blogging world. I am a corporate pilot flying a Falcon 200.My son showed me this site and so here I am. As I get better I will show you pictures, and tell tales from the cockpit . I think I have the best life in the world, and you’re gonna get a peak.
